Demolition's complete, now for the action

Buxton has completed the demolition of a 1960s three-storey apartment building in Harold Street Hawthorn in readiness for construction of IKOS Apartments, a four-level high-density residential complex with secured basement parking.

Constructed of pre-cast concrete panels and brickwork, the development has a shotcrete (sprayed concrete) retaining wall to the basement car park, post-tensioned concrete slabs and a metal decking roof while the facade features a combination of timber and stone finishes. A lift provides access to all floors from the basement.

Designed by Melbourne-based CH Architects, IKOS has 19 apartments – each with home work space – and is located within walking distance of Camberwell's iconic Burke Road shopping precinct.

Meticulous attention has been paid to interior design by CH Architects to ensure synergy between apartments and the market niche. “Project architect David Carabott put a lot of time and effort into the quality finishes and appearance of the interiors because we believe it's very important for the apartments to be appealing to both residents and their guests.” Developer Theo Krambias said.

Commenting on the appointment of Buxton Construction Theo said, “We did our due diligence thoroughly and received nothing but good reports about Buxton so we're confident they will deliver the quality of product we're looking for.”
