Conversion of the stately, eighty-year-old Scottish-style castle to 18 apartments plus construction of six detached contemporary houses and nine luxury two-storey townhouses required a significant amount of preparatory work to ensure the heritage and integrity of the historic site was not compromised.
Common areas within the original limestone castle feature traditional open fireplaces while the original detailing of the rooms has been faithfully restored. The grand dining room has been retained as a communal space for residents, while the eight-vehicle garage has become a gym and heated lap pool.
The houses and townhouses are constructed from a combination of Mt Gambier limestone, cypress pine and western red cedar to blend with the surroundings and have synergy with the exterior finish of the castle.
