A staged project involving upgrading the storm water system and constructing an 800 square-meter multi-purpose building in the college's science precinct.
The steel-framed, two-storey, multi-purpose building has significant rainwater collection capacity and features energy saving initiatives that include external venetian blinds as well as a ventilation system that draws cool air from sub-floor and expels it through high-level vents.
The second stage of the project involves the refurbishment of level one of the adjacent Nicholas Building and stripping the neighbouring Physics Building back to a basic structure together with removal of the western facade, some internal walls and all windows, recycling the existing building into a state of the art science facility consisting of new laboratories, a specialty for architects DesignInc.
Upon completion of this work, the Physics Building will undergo refurbishment including the fit-out of four science laboratories and associated preparation areas.
