Buxton Construction completed Nufarms Australian headquarters at the companys North Laverton site in late 2004 and was subsequently awarded a contract to construct a three-storey building to replace their existing laboratories destroyed by fire.
Prior to construction, Buxton assisted with a complex insurance claim, assessing what had to be replaced and estimating the cost involved. Comprising three laboratories with specialised services, preparation room, staff amenities and an administrative area, the contemporary structure features sand-blasted concrete panels, tinted glazing and a rhein zinc facade.
Ecologically Sustainable Design principles including the collection of rainwater, sun shading on windows and thermally efficient double-glazing were applied to the design.
The same palate of materials applied to the Australian headquarters was employed to ensure the building had its own character but at the same time retained synergy with Nufarms corporate architectural image.
