Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club
The $3.8 million project involved demolition of the southern facade of the clubhouse and extending the existing structure, construction of a court-side restaurant and lounge, installation of a lift and creation of a new pedestrian entry to the car park.
Also included in the contract was: refurbishment of an outdoor bistro area and the members' bar, together with an upgrade of amenities, the existing gymnasium – including the installation of a sauna and weights room.
Reinforcement of the suspended concrete roof of the car park was required to accommodate the additional load during the construction period.
The steel-frame and concrete slab structure with timber flooring incorporates thermo-tech double-glazing to the southerly and westerly aspects. Brickwork and Alucobond cladding, along with broad expanses of glazing, complement the functionality and appearance of the facade.
The construction schedule was staged to allow the club to operate normally and provide ongoing services to members and their guests.
